Established in 1997, Marketing Advisory Services is a hands-on, customer-focused marketing consultancy firm, dedicated to assisting companies boost their performance in the marketplace through innovative thinking, a market-driven approach and proven methodologies.

Our philosophy is to work closely with our clients to ensure continuous and substantial improvements in different environments such as marketing, sales, and overall operations.

At Marketing Advisory Services we do not apply a one size fits all formula or textbook models. As professionals we adopt a unique approach for every client, analysing core activities and wherever possible involving the respective management teams. This we feel ensures the implementation of solutions that work better simply because these are created and customized for individual companies that operate in specific industries.

Meet the Team

Daniel Abela

Managing Director

Daniel is the company founder and CEO of Marketing Advisory Services.  His managerial experience and marketing background, together with his innovative thinking have proven to be essential to the company’s success. Daniel has over 24 years of experience in the field of marketing and holds a Diploma in Marketing from London City College, UK.  He held several managerial positions with some of Malta’s leading companies until 1997 when he set up his own research and marketing firm Marketing Advisory Services.

Elaine Grech

Associate Marketing Consultant

Elaine achieved her PhD in Marketing from the University of Malta. She currently occupies a resident academic post in the Department of Marketing at the University of Malta and also has experience teaching Marketing for the University of London’s International Programmes. Over the past eight years, she has been responsible for a wide range of market research projects, contributed to the development and implementation of marketing communication plans, and also supported several clients to benefit from EU funding programs.

John Micallef

Social Anthropologist

John is our in-house social anthropologist, specialising in the fields of consumer behaviour and contemporary urban and youth culture. Over the past seven years, he has gained extensive experience in the field of marketing. John also currently occupies a post of tutor in Social Anthropology at the University of Malta. In 2019, he earned his Ph.D. in Anthropological Sciences from the University of Malta, with a thesis about the consumption of ‘club drugs’  amongst youths in contemporary Malta.  

Claire Cassar

Legal Counsel

Dr Claire Cassar is a warranted lawyer who graduated from the University of Malta with a Masters degree in Economics of competition law. She is an expert in her field and her background is firmly routed in monitoring and providing Marketing Advisory Services with solutions and direction.  

Naomi Thornley

Junior Research Executive

Naomi applies her expertise gained from her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Business Enterprise from MCAST.  Her research focuses during her studies were on investigating the influence of store window displays on consumer behavior in the fashion and IT electronic industries. Since joining the Marketing Advisory Services team, Naomi has been actively involved in multiple projects, including the development of research tools, coordination and execution of data collection, and handling administrative responsibilities.

Sandra Camoin

Research Interviewer

Sandra, a Research Interviewer joined the Marketing Advisory Services team in 2022, and has been actively involved collecting data from a variety of sources, including online surveys, in-person interviews, focus groups, and secondary research.
